Born and raised in Rochester NY, Marissa received her Master's degree in occupational therapy (OT) from the University at Buffalo.  With a special interest in integrated wellness practices and mental health, Marissa has spent her career empowering clients to meet their goals in sustaining mental, physical, and emotional wellness.   Marissa has worked with both children and adults across the lifespan, which is where she began to understand the potency of purposeful engagement, neurophysiology, the sensory system, and self-agency in establishing mental wellness.  Most recently, Marissa worked in higher education as a mental health content expert, where she delivered mental health education and support to students and clients, and where she saw first-hand the value of the services offered through this private practice.

Marissa is also a seasoned yoga instructor and yoga teacher trainer, with well over 500 hours of teaching experience.  She has written curriculum and instructed several yoga teacher trainings over the years, with specialties in the areas of nervous system regulation, anatomy and physiology, and trauma-informed care for both children and adults. Marissa firmly believes in creating access to wellness practices are for all people, which led her to hone her skills in chair yoga, trauma-informed yoga, and adaptive yoga over the last decade.  As a lecturer and educator specializing in trauma-informed regulation and wellness, Marissa is passionate about teaching people about how their nervous system works as a tool to self-agency, empowerment, and personal wellness.  â€‹
